Privacy policy
Who is responsible: Galix Studios Pty Ltd (ABN 22 703 560 141), Queensland, Australia (support@galixstudios.com). For the EU and UK GDPR we are the controller of the only personal data we hold: what is described under "If you email us" and "Our website".
The short version: the Glazesmith app does not collect, store or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the game does not connect to the internet to play (the Steam edition talks to Steam, as described below). The only personal information we ever hold is what you choose to send us in an email (below). A few optional features use Apple's or Google's own services; they are off unless you turn them on, and we receive nothing from them either (below).
What stays on your device
Your current run, your settings, your collection and your statistics are saved on your phone so you can carry on where you left off. They never leave your device and we cannot see them. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include them, under Apple's or Google's privacy terms.
Optional phone features (off unless you turn them on)
In Settings > On this phone you can choose to turn on any of these. Each one is off when you install the game, and you can turn it off again at any time.
- Game Center (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play Games (Android): your goals become achievements, and your daily score, biggest clear and furthest Endless Kiln town go on leaderboards. When you turn it on, you sign in with Apple's or Google's own screen, and the game sends them only which achievements you have earned and those scores. Apple or Google show them, with your Game Center or Play Games name, to you and, depending on your own Game Center or Play Games privacy settings, to other players. Their privacy policies cover that (Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy; Google: policies.google.com/privacy). We do not receive your name, your account or your scores.
- Keep progress in sync: your collection, unlocks and statistics are copied to your own iCloud account (Apple) or your own Google Play Games account (Google), so your other phones and tablets can use them. We cannot see that copy. Turning it off stops the copying; to delete the copy, use your Apple or Google account's own settings (on Android: Play Games, then delete the game's data).
- Daily reminder: one quiet notification, at most once a day, when the daily is ready and you have not played it. It is planned and shown by your phone itself. Nothing is sent anywhere. Your phone asks your permission first.
- Steam (Windows, Mac and Steam Deck): the Steam edition connects to Steam, run by Valve, only to unlock your achievements, keep your progress in Steam Cloud and show your daily score and best results on leaderboards. Steam shows them with your Steam name according to your Steam privacy settings. Valve's privacy policy covers that data (store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement); we receive none of it.
- Home-screen widget: if you add it to your home screen, it shows today's daily and whether you have played it. It reads that from the game on your phone. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Purchases
If you buy the game or anything in it, Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play) or Valve (Steam) handles the payment. We receive a sales report from them that does not identify you to us.
Sharing your result
If you tap Share, the game hands a short text (your score and a row of coloured squares) or a picture it has just drawn (a share card or a photo-mode picture) to your phone's share sheet or clipboard. You choose where it goes. Nothing is sent by the game itself. The picture is first written to the app's own temporary storage on your phone, where the share sheet can pick it up.
If you choose Save Image in the share sheet, your iPhone asks you once whether Glazesmith may add pictures to your photo library. That permission only lets the game add a picture you chose to save. The game never reads, uploads or looks at your photos.
If you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use them only to reply, and we keep them in our email account (a commercial email provider) for as long as we need to help you, then delete them within 12 months of the conversation ending. Ask us at any time to delete them sooner or to see what we hold. We never add you to a mailing list and never use your email for marketing. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us. Your email provider may process messages outside your country, including in the United States, under its own safeguards. You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export what we hold, or object to its use, and you can complain to a data protection authority (in Australia the OAIC; in the EU or UK the authority where you live). We do not sell or share personal information and do not use it for advertising (this is also our statement under the California CCPA/CPRA), and we do not treat anyone differently for using these rights.
Our website
The game's web pages (this policy, the terms and the support page) are served by a web hosting company. Like any website, its servers receive your IP address and browser details in order to send you the page, and may keep them in short-lived logs for security. We do not use analytics, cookies or trackers on the website, and its fonts are served from the same site, not from a third party. As there is no tracking, nothing changes when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Children
The game has no ads, no chat, no purchases of random items and collects nothing. It is meant for players aged 13 and over. The optional features above are off until someone turns them on, and the reminder never says a player will lose anything. Game Center, Google Play Games and Steam have their own settings and family controls for younger players.
Erasing everything
Settings > Erase everything on this device deletes all of it. Deleting the app does the same. A copy you chose to keep in iCloud, Google Play Games or Steam Cloud is deleted through that service's own settings.
